Blu Wireless attended the launch event of the Digital Catapult Centre on Friday 14th. This roundtable event focused on the future of 5G communications and took in the ideas and work of large corporate and academia towards creating a 5G network ahead of the 2020 deadline of international expectations.
The event was well attended with presentations from several industry leaders, from operators – Vodafone, Telefonica & EE and Academia – University of Surrey, Kings College and Warwick University and the IET.
Mark Barrett, Blu Wireless Technology’s CMO, attended the event, “Several speakers stressed the need for millimeter wave technology to form part of the future network. It is interesting to witness the development of an ecosystem and gain further understanding of the role that multi-gigabit wireless baseband system IP, such as that developed by Blu Wireless, will form within the emerging infrastructure.”
The keynote presentation was on the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) presented by Prof Rahim Tafazolli and was positioned as the key centre for 5G research in the UK with strong backing from UK industry.
Blu Wireless will be demonstrating their technology at Mobile World Congress in March 2015.
