We continue our commitment to advancing 60 GHz wireless networking solutions

Today we’re delighted to announce we have joined the Telecom Infrastructure Project (TIP) as part of the recently established mmWave working group, tasked with advancing networking solutions that use the 60 GHz frequency band and addressing challenges in the wireless backhaul domain. TIP is the engineering focused initiative co-chaired by Facebook and Deutsche Telekom, intended to bring together expertise from pioneering technology companies that will help transform traditional telecom ecosystems by deploying new technologies and agile architectures.

Our involvement in TIP will help to ensure that this high-profile, innovative group has access to advanced mmWave communications technology for demanding bandwidth requirements for applications such as smart-city sensors, augmented reality, 4K video streaming etc. We already showcased our fully functioning fixed wireless access solution at 60 GHz that delivers best in class performance in a wireless mesh network configuration last week at Broadband World Forum in Berlin.

“The opportunity to participate in the TIP working group and support all its members in the drive to deliver fast, cost-effective gigabits of capacity to consumers, underscores our commitment to bringing the benefits of mmWave technology to a wider audience,” said our CEO Henry Nurser. “Our mission goes beyond simply delivering advanced technology to our customers, but rather providing deep domain expertise, from a technology and market perspective. Being amongst this forward-thinking, highly esteemed collection of companies gives us access to shared ideas and the opportunity to play an integral part in the future of this rapidly emerging global technology ecosystem.”

We will be taking part in the TIP 2017 summit in Santa Clara, 8-9 November.
