Blu Wireless joins NMI

Last year was a very significant one for Blu Wireless. We gained significant funding for our 60GHz baseband IP for WiGig and backhaul applications, formed a strategic advisory board consisting of Sir Robin Saxby, Glenn Collinson and Andy Nix, took on several new staff – indeed we’re still growing at a rate of 1-2 per month – and made several important partnerships, including Imagination, InterDigital and Cadence.

We’ve therefore made the decision to become a fully paid up member of  NMI, the UK’s trade body for electronic systems and microelectronics.

We’ve worked closely with the organisation throughout our early years, and sponsored Movember at the NMI awards last year. But, more importantly, the NMI through its work with the innovation networks, UKESF, has taken leadership of the UK’s microelectronics industry, forming strong partnerships across the entire sector – be it EDA firms, chip vendors, software companies, end system manufactures and automotive companies too.

The organisation also played a pivotal role in establishing last year’s ESCO report into the future of the microelectronics industry in the UK, informing and influencing government decisions on how growth can best be achieved throughout the next 5-10 years.

2014 is set to be an even bigger year. We’ve already been listed in both national newspapers and trade magazines as key companies to watch. Beyond this, CES presented many important opportunities and MWC begins in just 23 days.

We will be at the show to hold key business meetings. If you’re also there and looking to implement either a WiGig / tri-band WiFi or LTE backhaul chipset then get in touch and we can discuss how our HYDRA 60GHz baseband IP can help you go to market more quickly and easily.
