Blu Wireless’ SurfBlu accelerates into the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) ecosystem

Bristol, UK – November 13, 2019 – Blu Wireless, the global leader in the use of unlicensed mmWave 5G connectivity for highspeed transport applications, today announced that their SurfBlu range of products will be launched at the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) summit. Launched in February 2016, TIP was started with the goal of accelerating the pace of innovation in the telecom industry.

Based on Blu Wireless’ HYDRA system IP architected for carrier grade multi-gigabit connectivity, the SurfBlu product family has been specifically designed to address the need of reliable, low latency, gigabit-speed connectivity for a range of 5G highspeed transport use cases – including track-to-train (for passenger internet access) as well as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) applications.

Already achieving greater than 3Gbps throughput at sub 1ms latency, the SurfBlu product family is being exhaustively tested at the UK Government funded AutoAir 5G Testbed as well as multiple rail trials, and will have its first commercial deployment early in 2020.

Attilio Zani, Executive Director, TIP, said: “We are glad to see Blu Wireless’ engagement in the Smart City Connectivity and Channel Modelling tracks as a member of the TIP mmWave Networks project group. We expect their efforts will help our service provider members who are focused on delivering high-quality wireless broadband experiences.”

Henry Nurser, Blu Wireless’ Chief Business Development Officer, added: “As a company committed to deploying innovative unlicensed mmWave solutions within the highspeed transport sector, we are proud to be part of the Telecom Infra Project. Collaborating with TIP members will allow us to together bring reliable low-cost gigabit connectivity to millions of people across the world much quicker than would otherwise be possible.”

At the TIP summit, which takes place in Amsterdam between 13th and 14th November, Blu Wireless’ SurfBlu product family will be exhibited in booth G2, where they will be showcasing their solutions for a wide range of demanding 5G use cases.
